Throughout history dealers have priced customer’s trade ins at what the industry knows as “wholesale.” This is what a dealer would pay for it from another source, say an auction or another dealer. What is hard to comprehend is that the dealer would then quote a retail price for the car that the customer was looking to purchase, wholesale pricing for your trade in but retail pricing for your purchase. It hardly seems fair, so we changed it.
